On September 24, Rocky Mountain HRPS held another very successful program. Thank you to our panel members, Martin Pocs, Eric Pringle, and Molly McCoy, and thank you to all of you who attended.
If you didn’t make it to the program, here is a small sample of some of the great insights that you missed about how to market yourself as an HR professional:
§ Think like a business person. Be able to describe how you measure the business impact of your work and speak to a business audience, discussing metrics, the bottom line, and strategic impact, even in your resume.
§ Being “memorable” to your interviewers is critical. One tip: the next time you network, pick up the phone rather than sending an email.
§ If you limit your search to Denver, you are cutting out 99% of the job opportunities. Denver is losing some major headquarters with business consolidations and M&As, so HR jobs are changing.
§ Global operations is a key experience that is emerging as important for hiring organizations in Denver. Denver’s growth industry is renewable energy; industry experience here will be helpful for the future.
