Did you know that one of the benefits of membership in the Rocky Mountain Human Resource Planning Society is premium seating at the Voices of Experience programs? On February 12, 2009, RMHRPS members were invited to a reserved seating event with Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. sponsored by RMHRPS and the Voices of Experience through the University Of Denver Daniels College of Business. Speaking to a packed house, Kennedy discussed the implications of global energy management for corporations and businesses nationwide and in Colorado.
- "America doesn't need to wait for futuristic, pie-in-the-sky technologies to cut its consumption of oil and coal - our last best hope to stop climate change is the free market itself."
- Colorado depends upon the tourism trade, which makes it incumbent upon business leaders to protect the natural resources that drive the economy.
- Although there is fear of loss of productivity and profit when moving to alternative energy, many countries (including Sweden and Israel) have enjoyed a renaissance of creative entrepreneurial spirit that has increased revenue streams from entirely new lines of business.
- By unleashing the innovative power of the free market, Colorado business stands to reap the benefit of many new and creative alternative energy businesses that can support and grow new jobs to replace those that are being eliminated today.
Ultimately, Kennedy issued a challenge to business and government leaders to consider how they can improve the environment and create new jobs through innovative new technologies and adherence to smart, ecologically sound practices that will ensure that our state has a bright and viable future.* Photos presented by: Nathan Ernst
